Reelify
Introduction
Reelify ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
Information We Collect
When you use Reelify, we may collect the following information:
- Account information: Email address and display name when you create an account.
- Content you provide: Reel URLs you submit, trips you create, places you save, and itineraries you build.
- Chat messages: Messages you send to Scout AI to help plan your trips.
- Authentication data: If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from your Google account.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and operate the Reelify app
- Process travel reels and extract places using AI
- Create and manage your trips and itineraries
- Power the Scout AI chat assistant
- Improve our services and user experience
Third-Party AI Services & Data Sharing
Reelify uses the following third-party AI and platform services to operate its core features. The table below describes exactly what data leaves your device and to whom it is sent.
- Supabase: Authentication and database storage. Your account credentials, trips, itineraries, and saved places are stored here.
-
OpenAI Whisper API (transcription): When you submit a reel URL, the audio track extracted from that reel is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API to produce a text transcript. No personal information — your email address, display name, or account ID — is included in this request. OpenAI's privacy policy applies: https://openai.com/privacy/.
-
OpenAI gpt-4o-mini (location extraction & Scout AI): The transcript produced above, and messages you send to the Scout AI chat assistant, are sent to OpenAI's gpt-4o-mini model. This is used to identify travel locations from reel content and to power conversational trip planning. No personal information (email, name, or account ID) is ever included in these requests. The same OpenAI privacy policy linked above applies.
-
Google Places API (geocoding & place search): Location names extracted from reels, and search queries you type in the location search modal, are sent to Google Places API to resolve coordinates and place details. No personal information is included in these requests. Google's privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
We never send your email address, display name, account ID, or any other personally identifiable information to OpenAI or Google as part of AI processing requests.
AI Feature Consent
Before Reelify sends any reel audio or chat messages to third-party AI services, the app presents an explicit in-app consent prompt that explains:
- Which data will be shared (reel audio, transcripts, chat messages, location names)
- Which third parties will receive that data (OpenAI, Google)
- That no personal account information is shared with AI providers
You may decline consent. If you do, you can still use Reelify's non-AI features, including creating and managing trips, building itineraries manually, and saving places. AI-powered features (reel processing and Scout AI chat) will be unavailable until consent is granted.
Your current consent status is visible and can be changed at any time in the Profile tab under Settings.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). We implement row-level security policies to ensure you can only access your own data. All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete trips, itineraries, or places, they are soft-deleted and may be permanently removed after 30 days. If you request account deletion, we will delete all your data within 48 hours.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Export your data
Children's Privacy
Reelify is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
